Earlier PT = Less Opioid Use in patients with knee arthritis

Thanks to the Institute of Clinical Excellence for bringing this huge (more than 67,000 people) study done at my alma mater to my attention. Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, it shoed that "Compared with PT initiation within 1 month, delayed PT initiation was associated with higher risk of opioid use in people with incident knee OA. The longer the delay in PT initiation, the greater was the risk." Check out the article below. As often with musculoskeletal injuries, the answer is clear: get to PT and get there quickly!

Delayed use of Physical therapy increases the risk of future opioid use in patients with knee arthritis.
